Choose the right campsite

Cabin tents are basic wooden bunkhouses designed to provide more space and comfort than traditional camping tents, making them ideal for families with kids and teenagers. They also provide protection from the elements and no set up, just roll out your sleeping bag, making them a hassle-free option for families who want to spend more time enjoying outdoor activities and less time setting up camp. Whether you’re a seasoned camper or new to the experience, camping in a cabin tent can be a fun and convenient way to bond with your family and create lasting memories in the great outdoors.
Plan your activities
Adventure Bound offers plenty of outdoor activities for families, including whitewater rafting, hiking, indoor and outdoor rock climbing, inflatable kayaking and SUPing to float on the lower Kennebec river. Make sure to plan your activities in advance. Check the weather forecast to ensure you’re prepared for any conditions. Our most popular activity is whitewater rafting, Adventure Bound offers guided trips on the Kennebec and Dead Rivers.
Teach your kids about nature
Camping is a great opportunity to teach your kids about the natural world. Take a nature walk with your kids and teach them about the river valley and forest with a nature scavenger hunt (download pdf). Adventure Bound also offers interpretive hiking trails along the Kennebec river that connect right to the camping area. Purchase a Maine fishing license and bring your own gear to fish off the dock in the evening.
Make sure to pack everything you need for your trip, including a first aid kit, insect repellent, sunscreen, and plenty of warm clothing. Adventure Bound also has a small souvenir shop with sweatshirt and t-shirt options, candy, and s’mores supplies.
