Our trip begins from just below Grand Falls to the confluence of the Kennebec River in The Forks, navigating through the exhilarating Class III – IV whitewater rapids. Overview

Our day begins at 8 AM with orientation and gearing up, wetsuits included, followed by a scenic bus ride to the Dead River. We hit the water around 10:30 AM after a quick snack, ready to conquer the rapids!

Stretching from just below Grand Falls to the confluence of the Kennebec River in The Forks, the Dead River boasts more thrilling whitewater than any other river in the east. Brace yourself for a 15-mile journey through turbulent waves and exhilarating Class III – IV whitewater rapids; Mine Field, Elephant Rock, Mile Long, and Poplar Hill Falls.

Enjoy approximately 3.5 hours of non-stop excitement on the river, expecting to return to our base around 2:00 PM. While we prepare a  barbecue lunch, paddlers can dry off and warm up. The day culminates with a delicious meal and a captivating slideshow featuring trip photos.

What's Included

Itinerary

  • Check in at Adventure Center
  • Turn in waiver forms for all participants
  • Meet your Trip Leader
  • Review weather and what to wear
  • Wet suits and change for the day
  • Your trip leader with review safety on the river
  • Safety equipment: Lifejacket (PFD – Personal Floatation Device), helmet, and paddle
  • All participants must wear Adventure Bound safety equipment
  • Load the buses and drive about 45 mins to the Dead River put in at Grand Falls
  • Meet you guide at put in and review paddle commands and raft
  • Enjoy a snack before the paddling begins!
  • Raft Class III-IV rapids for about 15 miles of continuous whitewater.
  • Return to our Adventure Center, just a 10 minute bus ride from takeout
  • Change into dry clothing
  • Enjoy a BBQ Lunch
  • Watch photo slideshow of your rafting hitting the biggest rapids of the day!  Photos may be purchased from our online store
  • Depart at you leisure
  • Enjoy the Adventure Center amenities; pool, hot tub, showers, WiFi, walking trails, disc golf
  • Visit our gift shop for a souvenir
