Let us guide you on a unique wilderness rafting and camping trip in Maine. Enjoy 2 days of whitewater rafting on the East Outlet and Kennebec rivers, with a night at our remote group site on Indian Pond.
When you arrive at the campsite, your tents will be set up for you, we will provide foam sleeping pads, and the Adventure Bound guides will prepare a woodfire meal and a wilderness sauna. All you have to do is kick back and enjoy the sunset.
Your day starts with a check in meeting at 8AM with your Adventure Bound guides. Many groups arrive the night prior and stay a night in our cabin tents to be on time. Your guides will provide you with a large dry bag to pack your overnight gear. This bag will be shuttled to our overnight site by motorboat. After your meeting there will be time to pack your day bag, get a complimentary wet suit if need, and change for the day.
The group is bussed north to the put in of Moosehead Lake’s East Outlet river, near Jackman, Maine. Your guides will give you instruction on paddling class 2 whitewater and gear you up in 4 person rafts. Your group will follow your guides and the river for about 3.5 miles to Indian Pond.
After a picnic lunch, our motor boat will meet your group and tow you and the rafts to our remote campsite. Our guides will cook you a delicious meal of chicken and ribs. Enjoy jumping off the dock, a hot meal, a wilderness sauna, and a beautiful sunset.
The next morning after a hot breakfast buffet, you’ll pack up and be towed to the boat launch to start you day rafting 12 miles on the Kennebec river.
The first thrilling 6 miles our Guides will navigate continuous Class III – IV rapids, ensuring non-stop excitement. Start out with Taster rapid and builds up to class IV Whitewasher and Magic Falls rapids. You’ll even have an option to jump in the river at Swimmers rapid.
But that’s not all – after conquering the rapids, you’ll have the chance to relax with a serene boat float, take a refreshing swim in the river, or explore the waterways on an inflatable kayak. Enjoy a break with a riverside barbecue featuring grilled chicken and river rice!
As you venture down to the lower river, the fun continues with water fights against friends, testing your skills in an inflatable kayak, or simply surrendering to the gentle current as you float with your life jacket through the scenic waterway.
We anticipate returning to our base around 3 PM, providing time for changing and reliving your Kennebec trip through a slideshow of trip photos.
Thanks to controlled dam releases, we guarantee an entire summer filled with whitewater thrills, and we’re here to make it happen for your family or youth group, seven days a week!
We have two lodging options at our Adventure Center. First is traditional tent camping in large field spaces big enough for any size group, each with a fire ring and picnic table.
Or enjoy our bunkhouse style cabin tents, each is large enough for up to 10 people. Just bring a sleeping bag and pillow and you’re all set up! The main buildings offer 4 bathrooms (2 men’s, 2 women’s) with toilets and hot showers.
Once you arrive at Adventure Bound we take care of the transportation for all scheduled activities. Our location has a large parking lot with plenty of space for busses and large groups.
Lunch is included on your rafting trip. Weather depending, we offer a riverside BBQ with fire grilled teriyaki chicken or veggie burger, river rice, pasta salad, cookies, lemonade and granola bars for a snack. In cold or raining weather we’ll cook you lunch back a the Adventure Center, after you change in to warm dry cloths.
