Unforgettable days: Camp No Limits

One of my favorite weekends this past summer, without a doubt, was working with Camp No Limits.
This amazing organization and group of mentors work alongside children with limb loss and limb difference, to ensure they never let their physical differences stop them from everyday life. What is evermore inspiring, is the dedication, motivation, and positivity this group has to push these kids to do more. There are No Limits!
The reason this group stood out above the rest, has nothing to do with their limb differences (although that added to their remarkable resilience), but their attitudes. You could feel the energy from this group the minute they arrived. Getting to know this group through ice breakers, field games and team challenges was just the start. We spent a day climbing trees, running around the fields with hula hoops and cones. We did relay races, the famous ENERGIZERS, trust falls, and had a blast breaking out of our comfort zones and connecting with people from all over the country.
These teens and adults really pushed me as a guide, as we knew they had no limits, we just had to adapt to find safe and creative approaches to complete each challenge. The mentors in this program really helped me be accountable for trusting myself and my skills, as they continuously do it for their kids. Guiding any group down the river is an honor, but witnessing these kids face their unique obstacles with smiles as big as mine… that’s an image I’ll treasure for a lifetime.
