Planning a Field Trip: Adventure Awaits in Maine

Planning a field trip for a Senior class trip

Why Adventure Bound is the Perfect Destination for School Field Trips

Whether you’re planning a field trip to kick off the school year or a spring adventure, Maine offers a perfect backdrop for outdoor learning and team-building.

At Adventure Bound, we specialize in creating memorable experiences for students through activities like ropes courses and whitewater rafting. No matter the season, our programs are designed to help students connect, challenge themselves, and create lasting memories outside the classroom.

A Bonding Adventure for Orientation Trips

What better way to help students transition into a new school year than by fostering connections through outdoor adventures? Our summer and fall trips offer the perfect backdrop for bonding as students work together on our ropes courses, navigate the thrilling rapids of the Kennebec River, and enjoy the serene beauty of the Maine wilderness. These experiences help new students build trust and confidence as they step into a new academic environment.

Spring Adventures: Plan Ahead for High-Energy Fun

Spring at Adventure Bound is all about energy and excitement. As our busiest season, spring trips should be planned well in advance. The Kennebec River, with its consistently thrilling rapids—thanks to dam-controlled water levels—provides an exhilarating experience for students eager to test their limits. With water levels always at their peak, spring rafting is a highlight for any adventurous group.

Tips for Teachers

Planning a field trip can be overwhelming, but with these tips, you can ensure a smooth and successful adventure:

    • Book Early:
Especially for spring trips, early booking is essential. Our slots fill up quickly, and we want to make sure your group gets the dates that work best for you.  We will provide you with a quote for your field trip so you can get approval from parents and your school.  Don’t worry about the planning process, we’re here to help guide you through! Fill out a reservation request and we’ll get the process going!!
    • Customize Your Experience:
At Adventure Bound, we offer a variety of activities tailored to your group’s needs. Whether it’s focusing on team-building on our ropes course or experiencing the thrill of whitewater rafting, we’ll work with you to create a trip that meets your objectives. Want a mellow and unique activity? Let’s plan a guided float trip on the flat water of the Kennebec river!
    • Included Meals:
Meal planning, packing and cooking can be the hardest part of a trip for a large group.  In addition to including lunches with our activities, add breakfast and dinners to your package.  Served buffet style in our main building, we can handle all your meals.  Let us know about allergies and dietary restrictions in advance and we’ll work with you so every child feels comfortable eating away from home.
    • Prepare Your Students:
Let students know what to expect. Adventure Bound provides all necessary equipment, but it’s important they come prepared with the right mindset—ready for teamwork, challenges, and fun.
    • Cabin Tent Cabin:
We understand the challenges of an overnight camping trip with kids.  With our bunkhouse style cabin tents, we make camping easy with no tent set up, bunkbed & mattresses included, and all the summer camp vibes you could want!  Give each participant our provided packing list in advance to make sure everyone has what they need for every adventure.
    • Consider the Seasons:
While each season offers something unique, consider what your group needs. Fall is perfect for bonding and reflection on the year ahead, while spring is all about wrapping up the school year and celebrating your accomplishments!  Since those season can be a little chilly, we provide complimentary wetsuits to make sure rafting is accessible to everyone.
